Designer : david komaatmosphere : the designer took inspiration from his georgian roots by reinterpreting their military costume (le chokha) and one of the ancient kartuli dancessilhouette: long coats with or without sleeves, making way for quilted leather jackets and kaki and black tones of nylon. the dresses are adorned with straps, pexiglass embroidery and metallic tubes looking like ammunition necklaces. the dresses are decorated with macramé silk lace.to note: transparency appears through little touches and softened edges of the more ‘strict’ outfits. david koma : it was the first time when i came back to my georgian routes and a couple of months ago i went to visit tbilissi. and i have always been inspired by my country but that was the moment when i felt it was right to reference the traditional costume, in particular there is this male warrior dress called chokha and that was the starting point. and also there is a beautiful dance that i have been loving since childhood called kartoli where this male and female side love each other and come together and there is this very hard and rigid masculine side to it and then a very soft feminine side. mixing these two with the fabrics, at the beginning you saw a lot of structured materials and fur and quilted bounded leather and a lot of silk lace and bead work. very very elegant and transparent and light so that was a fusion of masculine and feminine look.music from the show (only to be used in the context of the show, protected by the right to information.)
