Kate Spade - Womens Collection Spring/ Summer 2019 in New York (with interview)

Creative Director: Nicola GlassInspiration: A new era was seen at Kate Spade, with her collection signed by the new creative director, nominated by Tapestry Group at the end of 2017 just before the suicide of the founder. A challenge overcome with the first catwalk which took place in the famous Public Library in New York.Collection: A 70’s spirit was in the air with girls wearing boots, headscarfs and large flowing long sleeved dresses. Short jumpers were put together with flowing skirts. Lively colours and prints mixed together to soften and leave space for a frilled white dress.Note: Supple bags coordinated with outfits and the look to adopt: silk headscarfs with statement sun glasses.Interview with Nicola Glass:I wanted it to be, there definitely was a little bit of a 70’s reference but I wanted it to feel very modern and new and for it to feel quite individual, so even with the styling because I feel like the brand even from when Kate Spade first started the brand, she always encouraged women to really express their individuality through fashion and I think that’s really Important. The print is so important I think, so one element was the colour and because the brand has always stood for colour that I saw an opportunity to do it in more unexpected ways so whether its mixing a yellow with a very pale lilac and then with the prints taking there’s more of a graphic element to the print but I also wanted there to be this element of discovery and surprise. I think this is kind of the foundation that I’ve built with the first collection.Music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
