Dries Van Noten - Menswear Autumn/Winter 2014/2015 Show in Paris (with interview)

The finale of the Dries Van Noten show sums up the collection perfectly: models parade in packs of four, each group representing a different colour. And it truly is all about colour in this autumn/winter 2014/15 collection. The designer strove to spotlight pink, blue and yellowish green in this male wardrobe, creating clothes in tie-dye or faded styles, some with graphic characteristics. To this, he adds a touch of sportswear with a huge hooded parka, mixing cashmere and light nylon for a coat, as well as bomber-jackets, some pieces becoming cropped and sleeveless. Dries Van Noten never forgets his love of refined, masculine elegance with jabot collared shirts, enormous fur scarves, embroidery and pearls and even black velvet evening jackets.Interview:Dries Van Noten:I felt that it was very important to highlight the use of colour because I really wanted to make some slight changes to the masculine wardrobe, and to really use colour but in a tie-dye way, with faded colours so that this style could also be worn by men.You will also see outfits that have a sportswear influence so there is this sporty universe where colour is more acceptable and therefore interesting and so we really wanted to create a mixture between renaissance and streetwear. This inspired me to create quite placid pieces but to also add some historic effects. The idea behind it was to use materials such as nylon but equally very rich, very soft materials like mohair and really refined wool and other effects like felt, tie-dye, faded and things like that.Music from the show
